I have a soft spot for thrift stores, a very soft spot. Pretty much everything I own is second hand. The truth is I love junk. The other day I was on my way home from a barn sale (yes I frequent yard sales, garage sales, and the occasional barn sale) and I spotted an awesome little thrift store I never knew existed. I decided to make a list of thrift stores I've been in. Hopefully I can add to this list.
Family Clothes Tree
(717) 292-5764
4350 Bull Rd, Dover, PA 17315
This is kind of in the middle of nowhere. The parking lot is small and it was surprisingly busy when I stopped in. From an overheard conversation I gathered the store is run entirely by volunteers and sometimes the hours change based on their availability. I couldn't find their hours on the internet, but I think they are posted as 9-5 most days. This store has mainly clothes and glassware. But, they also have a toy/game section and a book and vhs area.
York Rescue Mission Economy Store
67 N. Main St.
Dover, PA 17315
(717)292-7832
Mon-Fri 10:00am-4:30pm
Sat 9:00am-2:00pm
The parking lot is in the back and the entrance is to the left. This store is surprisingly LARGE. There are like 4 or 5 rooms downstairs and then an upstairs. I think I saw pretty much everything in this store.
Goodwill
1120 Roosevelt Ave.
York, PA 17404
(717)846-5780
Mon-Sat 9:00am-8:00pm
Sun 12:00pm-5:00pm
This is a pretty standard Goodwill store. I do have something negative to say about the bathroom. It doesn't seem to get cleaned very well.
The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store
1090 Haines Rd.
York, PA 17402
(717)840-1300
Mon-Sat 9:00am-9:00pm
I've only been in a few Family Salvation Army Stores and this one seems to be average. Wednesdays are half off. It is REALLY busy on Wednesdays. I have seen a line waiting to get in the store at 9AM on wednesdays. Also, traffic is usually fairly backed up on wednesdays.
